Slot Machine Redesign

Slot Machine Redesign

When I was working at Aristocrat Technologies, an interesting problem came out. The company had come out with a new cabinet for their games, and the shape of the top panel changed drastically. With the new shape came problems, especially with the Mr. Cashman products, one of their most popular games.

On a standard Mr Cashman game, there was a piece of glass on the top of the machine advertising that it was a Mr Cashman game, plus a piece of glass on the bottom of the cabinet advertising which model game it was. Well, with this new cabinet, there was only one piece of glass. So, the task was to combine both the Mr Cashman graphics along with the game graphics.

This took a some time to do, as there was a lot of legal print that had to be included into the design, and it was frustrating as some of these games where so old the original artwork was hard to find. There were roughly 6 different attempts before this was chosen.

Nowadays, this template is still in use, with every Mr Cashman game in a slant top cabinet in the country using this as the artwork. Everytime I walk into a casino I can see this, and it is real rewarding to know I created it.
